Below par Vale stay unbeaten
A look at Port Vale on and off the pitch after the 1-1 draw at Tranmere
Hello and welcome to our Sunday morning edition of The Valiant for March 2.
Vale remain unbeaten in 2025 but weren’t at their best in a 1-1 draw at struggling Tranmere.
They made life hard for themselves on 18 minutes when Ben Amos’ ball out was intercepted by Regan Hendry, allowing Kristian Dennis to fire past the stranded keeper from the edge of the area.
Ronan Curtis levelled with a deflected 16-yard strike on 29 minutes but Rovers had the better of the second half as Amos saved from Lee O’Connor and then Cameron Norman after Ronan Curtis headed the ball against his own post.
Connor Wood’s 88th-minute dismissal for a second yellow card set up a frantic finish as Vale tried to make the extra man count in the eight minutes of stoppage time. Ronan Curtis fired wide of the far post after turning smartly in the area but a winner would have been harsh on a third-from-bottom Rovers side who are now 11 games without a win.
Vale stay sixth and now unbeaten in nine games ahead of Tuesday’s match at home to Harrogate.
