Mixed emotions for Vale after Charlton thriller
An in-depth look at Port Vale after their 3-3 draw at home to Charlton in League One
Port Vale had to come from behind three times in a 3-3 draw with Charlton after making life difficult for themselves at Vale Park.
Andy Crosby’s side were guilty of poor defending for each of Charlton’s goals, through Corey Blackett-Taylor on 27 minutes, Daniel Kanu on 59 and Tyreece Campbell on 83. But Crosby’s side also showed plenty of resilience to repeatedly force their way back, through Ethan Chislett’s 45th-minute penalty, Uche Ikpeazu’s 63rd-minute header and Gavin Massey’s strike from the edge of the area in stoppage time.
The draw lifts Vale a place to 14th, one below their visitors, but left Crosby frustrated his side hadn’t made the visitors work much harder for their goals.
