Port Vale’s winless run in the league stretches to 11 games after Tyreece John-Jules’ 77th-minute strike condemned them to a 1-0 defeat at home to Derby County.

Vale have taken just three points from the last 33 although at least results elsewhere kept the three-point gap to the relegation zone as they remain in 19th.

But that will be limited consolation as they had nothing to show for an enterprising first-half performance before they were forced on to the back foot by Paul Warne’s sixth-placed side.

Derby’s second-half dominance was rewarded when Gavin Massey’s clearance was charged down and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing crossed for John-Jules to score with his first touch in front of the travelling supporters.

We’ve got analysis and reaction from the game in this morning’s Wednesday November 29 edition. Please read on for The Valiant in full.
