Northampton defeat dents Vale’s survival chances
An in-depth look at Port Vale after their League One game at Northampton Town
Hello and welcome to a special Tuesday morning edition of The Valiant for April 2.
Port Vale’s hopes of a third successive win to climb out of the relegation zone were frustrated as they were beaten 2-0 at Northampton Town.
Mitch Pinnock’s clinical 34th-minute finish from the left of the area opened the scoring after Vale were punished for losing possession on the half-way line.
Darren Moore’s side worked hard to try to get back in the game but Uche Ikpeazu was foiled by home keeper Lee Burge who had also made smart first-half saves to twice deny Ethan Chislett.
And Vale were throwing men forward when they were caught on the break in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Tyreece Simpson squared for Shaun McWilliams to score from close range.
