Port Vale hold nerve to stay in the FA Cup as Steve Evans fumes
News, analysis, reaction, opinion and more after Port Vale's 1-1 draw at Stevenage in the FA Cup second round
Funso Ojo’s penalty kept Port Vale in the FA Cup and, we hope, will prove a turning point for Andy Crosby and his team.
Vale went into this second-round tie at Stevenage on the back of an 11-game winless run in the league, and in danger of a morale-sapping defeat when Jamie Reid ran on to Harvey White’s through ball to fire the hosts in front after 69 minutes.
However, referee Alan Young pointed to the spot after weighing up Terence Vancooten’s challenge on Uche Ikpeazu, and Ojo held his nerve to level on 76 minutes.
The result puts the Vale into this afternoon’s third-round draw and sets up a replay with Steve Evans’ side for a week on Tuesday.
We’ve got analysis, news, opinion, reaction and plenty more in today’s issue number 35 of The Valiant. Please read on for our Sunday December 3 edition in full…
