Well that was frustrating. Port Vale’s winless run in the league is now at seven games after Ephron Mason-Clark’s 14th-minute goal gave Peterborough a 1-0 victory at Vale Park.

The Vale haven’t scored in their last five league games and, if we’re honest, need to create more than they did here even though they had claims for a first-half penalty through Ben Garrity and came close after the break when substitute James Plant had an effort blocked on the line.

In mitigation, they were up against a strong Peterborough side who are establishing themselves in the play-off places. Vale remain in 14th after a result made worse by injuries to Kofi Balmer and Mitch Clark.
