Relegation fears grow as Vale serve up shocker at Fleetwood
An in-depth look at Port Vale after the 3-0 defeat at Fleetwood
Port Vale were made to pay for a dreadful performance at Fleetwood as a 3-0 defeat left them just two points clear of the relegation zone.
The Vale have games in hand on the teams around them but they will have to play better than they did here as Andy Crosby admitted his side were outfought and outplayed by a team that kicked off the game at the foot of the table.
The visitors never recovered from falling behind to Jayden Stockley’s low drive on eight minutes. Ronan Coughlan scored the second on 65 minutes when he volleyed home Bosun Lawal’s cross-shot before Ryan Broom added the third in stoppage time, firing low past Connor Ripley after Vale failed to clear a corner.
The defeat was accompanied by chants against Crosby and director of football David Flitcroft from sections of the 1,100 travelling supporters.
