Section of fans turn on manager before Port Vale rescue point in Wycombe drama
An in-depth look at Port Vale following the 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers in League One
A number of Port Vale’s travelling supporters turned on manager Andy Crosby before an injury-time equaliser salvaged a 1-1 draw at Wycombe.
Kieran Sadlier volleyed home Garath McCleary’s cross six minutes into the second half to give Wycombe a deserved 1-0 lead and put them on course for their first win in ten league games. But Vale hit back when substitute James Wilson swept the ball home after Ben Garrity’s header had been blocked. Garrity’s header may have already been over the line but Wilson made certain on his comeback from injury to keep Vale in 15th.
Supporters had directed their frustration towards Crosby after Wycombe’s opener in a poor game. But the draw gives Vale seven points from their last three league games, albeit that run has been punctuated by cup defeats to Stevenage and Middlesbrough.
