Selection issues after Wolves drama
A look at Port Vale after their Trophy game against Wolves under-21s
Hello and welcome to our Wednesday morning edition of The Valiant for September 4.
Vale claimed an extra point for a penalty shoot-out victory over Wolves under-21s after last night’s Bristol Street Motors Trophy tie finished 2-2 in 90 minutes.
The visitors took the lead on 25 minutes when Tom Edozie cut in from the left and blasted an unstoppable shot past Ben Amos from 12 yards.
Vale levelled on the hour through Lorent Tolaj’s powerful volley and looked the more likely side to go on and win it.
But Wolves regained the lead through Fletcher Holman’s brilliant long-range strike on 85 minutes, only for Ronan Curtis to level on 88 after good work from James Plant and Antwoine Hackford.
Vale then edged the shoot-out 5-4. Ben Amos made two saves so, although Jason Lowe missed his spot kick, successful efforts from Tolaj, Curtis, Tom Sang, Rico Richards and James Plant earned Vale the extra point.
We’ve got news, analysis, opinion and nostalgia in this morning’s edition as we look at the game and more.
