Selection problems as winless run continues
An in-depth look at Port Vale after the 2-1 Boxing Day defeat at Bradford City
Hello and welcome to our special December 27 edition of The Valiant.
An improved second-half performance wasn’t enough for Vale as a 2-1 defeat at Bradford stretched their winless run to six league games.
Andy Cook’s brilliant long-range volley put the hosts in front after just three minutes of a first half in which Vale created little. However, Darren Moore’s side were rewarded for a bright start after the break as Antwoine Hackford equalised on 50 minutes with a volley from the edge of the area.
The hosts hit back with Cook’s header from a 59th-minute free kick and Vale couldn’t find another goal as Jayden Stockley came closest with a late header.
The afternoon got worse as Tom Sang was sent off in stoppage time but Vale stay second thanks to their rivals also slipping up.
