Ten-man Vale boost promotion chances
A look at Port Vale on and off the pitch after the 2-1 win at home to Accrington Stanley
Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for February 2.
Let’s call this one a win-and-a-half. The Vale are up a place to sixth and will be feeling positive about their promotion prospects after beating Accrington 2-1 at Vale Park despite having to play all but the first 13 minutes with ten men after Tom Sang’s dismissal.
Jayden Stockley headed Vale into a seventh-minute lead from Sang’s cross but the defender was controversially sent off six minutes later for a foul on Ashley Hunter.
Tyler Walton equalised on 51 minutes, scoring from close range after Hunter had fired against the bar, but Lorent Tolaj netted the winner five minutes later when he raced on to Ben Garrity’s pass before drilling the ball left-footed past the keeper.
