Ten-man Vale have to settle for a point
A look at Port Vale on and off the pitch after the 1-1 draw at Chesterfield
Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for January 26.
Vale were left to wonder what might have been after they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Chesterfield.
Jayden Stockley’s second-minute goal put Darren Moore’s side in charge and that lead didn’t look under threat until Mitch Clark was set off six minutes into the second half. That forced Vale into a rearguard effort but Tom Sang was caught in possession on the edge of his own area to allow the home side’s outstanding player Armando Dobra to run through and score on 76 minutes.
The point mean Vale drop a place to fourth and may feel like two points lost considering the way they started the game. But the draw at least extends their unbeaten run to four games, with eight points picked up, to stay in the hunt for automatic promotion.
