Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for April 13.
Vale treated their biggest crowd of the season to their biggest win as they walloped Bromley 5-0 to go three points clear at the top of League Two.
The result also put Vale five points clear in the automatic promotion positions with four games to play, albeit fourth-placed Doncaster have a game in hand.
They were far too good for their mid-table visitors from the moment Lorent Tolaj set up Jack Shorrock to fire the ball past keeper Grant Smith after five minutes.
Tolaj had a goal ruled out for offside but wasn’t to be denied on 28 minutes when he swept home Ryan Croasdale’s low cross.
George Byers fired home from close range on 66 minutes, Tolaj netted his second when he beat Smith from the edge of the area on 68 and Croasdale wrapped up the emphatic win on 82 when he connected with Jerry Umolu’s low cross.
The win was Vale’s sixth in the last seven games and suggests they are timing their run just right as they hit the top of the table for the first time since the start of December.
