Hello and welcome to our Wednesday morning edition of The Valiant for August 14.
The Vale are out of the Carabao Cup after a much-changed side went down to a 3-2 defeat at Barrow in last night’s first-round tie.
Ged Garner put the hosts in front inside a minute but Ruari Paton levelled with a 25-yard free kick on 26 minutes before substitute Tom Sang fired the Vale in front from the edge of the area on 66. However, Emile Acquah headed the leveller on 70 minutes after the otherwise impressive Ben Amos failed to get to a cross, and Ben Jackson curled home the winner 13 minutes from time.
In today’s edition we’ve got talking points, ratings and reaction from the game as well as an update on Vale’s interest in Southampton’s Diamond Edwards, an injury round up and more.
