Hello and welcome to our Sunday morning edition of The Valiant for September 29.

Vale are up to fifth in League Two after an assured performance helped them to a 2-1 win over Swindon in Burslem.

Darren Moore’s side dominated the first half without finding the net and must have wondered if it wasn’t going to be their day after the break when Ben Garrity’s header hit the underside of the bar before Jayden Stockley put the rebound against the woodwork.

Aaron Drinan had hit the post for the visitors on 51 minutes but George Byers met Tom Sang’s corner with a powerful near-post header to put the Vale in front on 61 minutes and the game seemed over on 85 when Brandon Cover nicked possession on the edge of the Swindon area before running through and dinking the ball over the keeper.

Will Wright pulled one back direct from an 89th-minute free kick but Vale saw out the five minutes of stoppages comfortably enough and will be looking forward to getting back in action at home to Colchester on Tuesday.
