Vale punished by classy Bolton
A look at Port Vale after the 3-0 friendly defeat at home to Bolton
Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for August 4.
Vale signed off their pre-season campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at home to Bolton as the League One side showed their greater quality.
The Vale were up against it from the second minute when Josh Dacres-Cogley got behind the defence and squared for Aaron Collins to score a tap in. Bolton didn’t look as though they needed any help but got it anyway on 32 minutes when a loose pass from Ben Heneghan let in Victor Adeboyejo who fired home at the second attempt after Connor Ripley inadvertently blocked Tom Sang’s effort to clear off the line.
Vale got closer to their visitors after the break but conceded the third, on 75 minutes, when Dion Charles was played behind the defence and ran 25 yards before slotting the ball past Ripley.
Darren Moore’s side have a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday but this was their final public friendly before their League Two season begins at Salford on Saturday.
