Vale sent into relegation zone by defeat to Leyton Orient
An in-depth look at Port Vale following their 1-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient
Port Vale fell into the League One relegation zone with a 1-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient in their first game after manager Andy Crosby was sacked.
Idris El Mizouni scored on the hour but Vale were grateful to keeper Connor Ripley for keeping the visitors to just one goal. Baylee Dipepa went close to a leveller in stoppage time but Vale created little as the defeat, coupled with Reading’s win at Stevenage, sent them into the bottom four.
Academy director Will Ryder and staff Danny Lloyd and Matt Done took the team, assisted by goalkeeper coach Carlo Nash, after being placed in interim charge as Vale look for a replacement for Crosby.
