Vale slide closer to relegation with Lincoln loss
Our Sunday February 25 edition and a look at the 2-0 defeat at home to Lincoln City
Port Vale still have time to get out of trouble, the problem is their losing momentum is gathering pace after Lincoln City became the latest side to take points from them.
This 2-0 defeat in Burslem left Vale third from bottom and on a run of just two points from their last nine games ahead of what now looks a crucial game at home to fellow strugglers Fleetwood on Tuesday.
Vale gifted Lincoln the lead inside two minutes when Nathan Smith’s free kick gave the ball away to Joe Taylor to score. Vale couldn’t then create a huge amount to get back into a tight game before the visitors made certain of the points in stoppage time when Dan Jones brought down Dylan Duffy in the area and Reeco Hackett scored from the spot.
