Vale star in revenge thriller
A look at Port Vale after their 3-2 win at Walsall
Hello and welcome to our Sunday edition of The Valiant for April 6.
Vale completed a remarkable week with a 3-2 victory at Walsall to move a step closer to promotion.
Victories over Crewe, Bradford and now the Saddlers have put Darren Moore’s side second in the table - in fact they were top after knocking Walsall off their perch in the early kick off before Bradford replaced them on goal difference courtesy of a home win over Crewe.
But this was a fifth win in six games for a Vale side who are gathering momentum at the right time and face the prospect of playing in front of a big Vale Park crowd against Bromley on Saturday with ticket prices cut to £10 and free for under-12s.
Players and supporters might need the week to recover after a remarkable first half in which Jamille Matt had a goal disallowed for a push on Connor Hall after just 12 seconds and Vale took the lead through Lorent Tolaj’s overhead kick on four minutes.
Taylor Allen levelled from the spot on seven minutes after Jayden Stockley was ruled to have handled, and Levi Amantchi put the hosts in front four minutes later.
But Vale roared back through Ben Garrity’s left-footed volley from 12 yards on 41 minutes before Tolaj was brought down in the area and scored from the spot in first-half stoppage time for 3-2.
